Tooling Engineer | Manistee, MI

Salary Range: $74,000 - $113,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Manistee seeking Tooling Engineers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing tools, jigs, fixtures, and molds.
• Perform preventative maintenance, repair, and modification of existing production tooling.
• Diagnose and resolve tooling-related issues on the production floor to minimize downtime.
• Manage the specification, procurement, and validation of new tooling and equipment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, production, quality) on tooling requirements and improvements.
• Implement and maintain tooling documentation, standards, and safety protocols.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3-5+ years of experience in tooling design, development, or maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, NX) for tool design and analysis.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, stamping, machining, or die casting.
• Knowledge of tool materials, heat treatment processes, and surface finishing techniques.
• Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance stack-up analysis.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with mold flow or FEA simulation software.
• Proficiency in advanced CAM programming.
• Familiarity with additive manufacturing processes for tooling applications.
• Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
